Recurrent Energy, a part of Canadian Solar Inc., has signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a leading U.S. technology company. Canadian Solar is a global leader in solar and energy storage development, ownership, and operations. Under this deal, the partner will source renewable energy from Recurrent Energy’s solar PV project in Valladolid, located in Castilla y León, Spain. The Tordesillas solar project has a capacity of 300 MWp and is set to start operations by 2026. Once it becomes operational, Recurrent Energy will own and manage the project.
Ismael Guerrero, CEO of Recurrent Energy, said in a statement, “We are very pleased to continue to support leading technology companies in their commitments to achieve net zero carbon emissions. The trust placed in us reflects Recurrent Energy’s proven expertise in executing large-scale projects for major global customers. This PPA demonstrates both companies’ dedication to combating climate change through cost-competitive renewable energy investments.”

The Tordesillas project will boost Spain’s leadership in renewable energy and support its decarbonization goals. It is expected to produce around 620 GWh annually, enough to power 188,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by 161,000 tons each year. Recurrent Energy is growing its global portfolio of solar and energy storage projects. In Spain alone, it has over 2 GW of solar projects and 60 MWh of battery storage in development.
